John Andrew Tarbet has been the Musical Director/Conductor for four national tours: "A Christmas Story," "Hello, Dolly!" starring Sally Struthers, "My Fair Lady," and "Peter Pan." Other Musical Direction credits include "Annie" at the Tarrytown Music Hall, "Broadway All-Stars" with Norwegian Cruise Lines in Hawaii and multiple shows over 6 seasons with KJK Productions in Westchester County.
John is currently pursuing a Master of Education (Ed.M.) from Teacher’s College, Columbia University where he is an instructor of applied piano and composition. Prior to studying at Columbia John earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Additionally he holds a Master of Music (M. Mus.) in Collaborative Piano and a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) in Piano Performance from the University of Utah School of Music.
As a composer John is in the advanced class of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop. John was also recognized as "New, Emerging, Outstanding" by the York Theatre Company in New York City where a reading of his full-length musical theatre piece, "Edith Stein" took place. John was a Composer Fellow in the 2009 John Duffy Composer's Institute at the Virginia Arts Festival.
